A review of Cherry Orchards Camphill Community by Anonymous written on Monday 27th of February 2023
I stayed only 2 weeks at this place as a volunteer from the US in 2016 even though I was supposed to be there for a year. Monty, the other review on this site, is absolutely correct. It was a place run by a cult with a manipulative, weird, intrusive couple in charge (an American husband and a British wife).
The location was in an isolated place up in the hills where one felt completely cut off from civilisation, which added to the cult's ease of control over residents. Everything was dirty and molded. It was just horrible all the way around!
They maintained that they were Anthroposophists (esoteric Christianity teachings as formulated by Dr. Rudolf Steiner), but they were definitely not Christians nor Anthroposophists. I think the term "evil" ("unconscious" in Jungian terms) more adequately describes them. And I am glad this place has been shut down..
